Ludovit, Chris, Stanka, Olga and Eddie

While visiting the dentist in Hungary, we took a side trip to Bratislava for 3 nights.  Patsy stayed with her friend Marta and we stayed with Marta's neighbors across the street.  We had a really good time and enjoyed getting to know the family we stayed with.

First trip to Bratislava

Ludovit, Olga and Stanka: We stayed with the Bachrata family for 3 nights while in Bratislava.  They were so nice to invite us to stay at there place without even knowing us.  Ludovit and Olga do not speak English but Stanka speaks some.  Stanka was a big help and made it much easier to communicate.

I learned a few words in Slovak:

Dakujem Velmi Pekne (sounds like Jakweim Velme Peknah) - Thank you very much
Dobra - good
Ahoy - hello/goodbye
Usmev - smile

Olga was a wonderful cook and everything she made was delicious.  She had breakfast for us every morning as well as treats in the evening.  She even made us lunch to take with us the day we went to Vienna Austria.  The food was so delicious and all made from their own garden vegetables.  They even made their own tea from their fruit trees.

Ludovit drove us to the train station the morning we left for Vienna and we really appreciated it.  He helped us buy our tickets and made sure we got on the correct train.

We had a great time and they really made us feel like part of the family.  We hope some day we can all meet again and maybe they can come visit us in Colorado in the future.

Marta: We met Patsy's friend Marta and stayed with their neighbors across the street while in Bratislava.  They were so nice and treated us to homemade goulash and other treats.  We even had an outdoor BBQ one evening.  It was so nice of her to arrange a place for us to stay and for inviting us into their home for a few days.
