On this trip we drove from Windsor to Cardiff Wales.  This was over Easter weekend which is a 4 day weekend in England.  The drive takes about 2 and 1/2 hours from Windsor.  We stayed at a hotel in Cardiff for 1 night.

Cardiff has a nice castle and pier with several shops and restaurants.  About 1/2 day is enough to explore the town.  We stayed the night, then drove to Castell Coch and Caerphilly Castle the next day.  In the afternoon, we left Wales and headed back to Ludlow England.

Cardiff: This is a man made stone circle in the large park next to Cardiff Castle.  We walked through the park and just relaxed as the weather was very nice.  This is the park which has the Wall of Animals on one side as shown below.

Cardiff Castle: Inside the castle walls is very nice.  We were able to enter the Keep in the center of the castle.

Cardiff Pier: The pier area is small, but has several shops and restaurants.  Of course, the most important restaurant was Eddie's, although we did not eat there.

Cardiff Wall of Animals: This was a really neat wall surrounding part of the park next to Cardiff Castle.

Castell Coch: The castle is only a few miles from Cardiff.  The castle has been restored and furnished as it would have been several hundred years ago.  It was fun to explore and see what life must have been like to live here.

Caerphilly Castle: The town of Caerphilly is only a few miles from Cardiff.  This is one of the largest castles in Wales.  It was a lot of fun to explore.  The leaning turret was caused by settlement and probably not the result of battle.
