It took about 2-1/2 hours to get to Brussels from London on the Eurostar.  We connected in Brussels to Bruges which is another hour or so by train.  We then caught a bus to our B&B, about a 10 minute ride.

(50 Euro / Nt-off season).

We arrived at the B&B about 6:15 pm.  We walked to the town center, about a  5 min walk to have dinner.  Croquette's are very popular in Belgium and well as mussels, chocolate and waffles.  The beer is locally brewed and is some of the best I have ever had.  Leffe was one of Eddie's favorites.

Bruges is a very nice town to stroll around and go exploring.  The city is filled with canals similar to Venice Italy. You can take canal rides, but we decided not to as it was still very chilly.  One full day should be enough to explore the city.  If you arrive late, stay the night and leave in the evening the next day.

Town Center Belfry: This is the belfry tower in the town center.

Town Center Belfry Bells: We paid a few Euro's to walk the steps to the top of the bell tower.  We were there right at noon and were able to watch the bells chime.  Some were quite loud.

Views from the Belfry: These are some of the spectacular views of the city taken from the bell tower.

Church of our Lady: This was a beautiful church next to the Gruuthuse Area.

We will have to return as we found out there is one of Michelangelo's sculptures inside.  We were actually in the church, but seemed to have missed it.  It's Michelangelo's Mother with Child.

City Views: Bruges is a very cute city.  These are some photos we took while walking around.  One shows a manual draw bridge.

Fries: French Fries, or Pommes Frites as they are called, are best served with mayonnaise.

Gruuthuse Area: Another very cute and old part of the city.

Town Center: Some buildings in the town center.

Windmills: Bruges has 4 windmills that are no longer active.  During the summer months you can climb the steps into one of them to see the inside.
