We took the train to Haarlem were we rented bicycles at the train station to ride to The Keukenhof and through the flower fields.  Haarlem is about 15 minutes by train from Amsterdam.  Keukenhof is by the town of Lisse, and was approximately a 30 mile round-trip bike ride for us.  It was a beautiful day and warm enough that we did not need to wear jackets or sweatshirts on the ride.

Around the Town: For speed bumps, I just like the name Drempels.  This is also a nice photos of the giant cathedral and windmill in Haarlem.

Cycling: One of the many bicycle parking areas and Chris on our ride.  Haarlem, as well as Amsterdam is a great place for riding.  There are special designated bike routes along most of the major roads.  Bicycle routes have their own traffic signals.  When walking around, you must pay special attention when crossing streets.  You have to watch for cars, trams and bicycles.

Flower Fields: These are some photos of the flower fields on our ride.  At some places, depending on the type of flower begin grown, the smell of the flowers was wonderful, especially the hyacinths.  We really had a lot of fun on our ride.  This is something we would do again and recommend it to anyone who is visiting in the spring.  One photo shows workers in a fields harvesting the flowers by hand.

Windmill: A windmill in Haarlem.
