Warwick's magnificent castle is a splendid medieval fortress which is also one of the country's finest stately homes.  The original Norman castle was rebuilt in the 14th century, when huge outer walls and towers were added, mainly to display the power of th egreat feudal magnates, the Beauchamps and the Nevilles, the Earls of Warwick.  The castle passed in 1604 to the Greville family who, in the 17th and 18th centuries, transformed it into a great country house.  In 1978 the owners of the Madame Tussaud's bought the castle and set up tableaux of wax figures to illustrate its history.

It takes about a half day to explore the castle and all the activities.

Courtyard: Mini Warriors: This is in the courtyard of the castle where the army gathers small children to participate in medieval activities.

Dungeon and Torture ChamberThe photos show the entrance to the dungeon and some of the rooms.  One photo shows the metal cage a person was hung from close to the place they committed a crime.  They would be left in the cage until their entire body rotted away.  The other is a dungeon cell and a small hole in which people were lowered down into, then just forgotten.
